Celebrations, Seasons, and Holy Days

Our community holds several seasonal and special celebrations throughout the year. These include:

Water Communion - a distinctively UU ceremony celebrated the second Sunday of September

Jewish High Holy Days - a reflection on forgiveness in the Fall around the time of Jewish Yom Kippur

Day of the Dead - a Mexican holiday to honor the dead, which we celebrate in UU style the first Sunday in November

Thanksgiving - a service reflecting gratitude and including a Breads of the World Ceremony

Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve - a service of gratitude rotating among the partner congregrations of Oheb Sholom, Islamic Center of Reading, Washington Presbyterian Church, Wyomissing Church of the Brethren, and our Unitarian Universalist Church

Christmas Pageant - a lively all-ages service celebrating the winter holy days held the Sunday before Christmas

Christmas Eve -  a candlelit service with music and reflection reflecting on hope, peace, and love

Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday - a justice-oriented service held in January

Easter - a Spring service celebrating rebirth and renewal

Youth Service - an all-ages service coordinated by our youth, their advisors, the Director of Religious Education, and Minister

Flower Communion - a distinctively UU ceremony celebrated in June
