First Unitarian Universalist Church of Berks County

seek ... nurture ... serve

Friday, March 22, 2019 - 3:00pm to Sunday, March 24, 2019 - 3:00pm (ended)

COA credo writing participants 2017

*** Group will leave First UU Berks Friday afternoon at 3 and return by 3 on Sunday ***

The Coming of Age Enrichment Program is designed to enhance, deepen and enrich the Coming of Age experiences youth from Unitarian Universalist congregations will receive.  The focus of this weekend is development of credo statements.  Experienced DREs Meagan Henry and Tracy Breneman created the program, based upon an educational philosophy of group and participatory learning and upon a philosophy of collaboration.  The end result of this effort was to produce a curriculum that Murray Grove pioneered and now can be used by clusters of congregations throughout Unitarian Universalist districts and regions.

The overarching goal is to help our young people grow and develop in their Unitarian Universalist faith.  There will be specifically Universalist elements in it, drawing upon the rich heritage of Murray Grove, its founding and the history of Universalism over time. It enables many congregations’ youth to benefit from the expertise, wisdom and experience of experts, expanding the capacity of each congregation.  The philosophy draws upon our belief that we are one in community and are more deeply enriched by engagement with others than in going alone.
