Share the Plate Candidates

November 28, 2017

Hello U.U. Family,

As we prepare for the upcoming congregational meeting in December we need to begin thinking about which five agencies we will be supporting through our next Share the Plate offerings. It has become more and more evident that with each news cycle social programs that are near and dear to our UU hearts are in jeopardy of being shuttered or pushed to the brink of complete inefficiency.

I need your help in choosing which five programs we should support for our next six-month period in the remainder of fiscal year 2017/2018. I ask that you choose programs that are most in line with our UU values and also in the most need. I know that this can be a difficult decision as we feel that all of the programs that we support are worthy causes. As a reminder the programs that you chose must have 501 3 c status.

The most recent Share the Plate recipients for the first half of fiscal year 2017/2018 were FUUBC Food Bank, Planned Parenthood of PA, FUUBC-Family Promise, LGBT Center of Greater Reading, and FUUBC Social Justice Programs. Perhaps we could choose new programs for this upcoming cycle? Since our last congregational meeting there have been natural disasters that have completely decimated communities and we might want look beyond our traditional FUUBC and Reading/Berks area for giving.

Please retuurn the attached PDF with your suggestions to the Share the Plate envelope on the welcome table or email them to Melissa at
