In the spirit of hope and peace we will have a table in the gerber room after worship Sunday afternoon to assist the Unitarian Universalist Service Committeee's initiative to offer welcome messages with migrant children and families who have recently arrived to remind them that they have a home and are welcome here.

Advent Calendar of Kindness Crafting

November 29, 2018

Join us in the Gerber room from 9 to 10:15 and 11:45 to 1 there will be a "pop up" advent calednar of kindness craft led by nursery care provider Barb Kolar and RE committee member Rachel Libertore.  Join us for holiday songs and fun.  

Celebrating the Winter Holidays with the UU Advent Wreath

Seasonal celebrations help to create meaningful experiences at the holidays. This year, I invite you to explore the significance of the winter holidays with the UU Advent Wreath. We’ll be celebrating with this ritual at church, and you can incorporate it into your family celebrations at home as well.
Each Sunday morning and on Christmas Eve, we will light the Advent candles together at church and reflect on the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love.

Are you looking for a way to listen more deeply to worship or help out our church community from the comfort of your own home?  We're looking for a few folks to edit our worship recordings.  No previous tech experience - all training provided.  Please contact Kai Miller to get started. 

Time to Strike Up the UU Holiday Band!

Do you have at least one year of experience playing an instrument?  Would you like a reason to pick up your instrument again? Each Christmas Eve we are called to worship with magical carols played by you!   We ask that musicians interested attend at least one rehearsal (preferably both if you have limited experience) from 11:45 to Noon on Sunday Dec 2nd and Dec 16th.  To sign up please contact either Kent or Rachel Gutzler for sheet music at 610-780-5162 or 

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service Wednesday November 21 7 pm

October 17, 2018

This year's Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be hosted by Immanuel United Church of Christ in Shillington, next to Governor Mifflin High School. The Bahai's will be offering the sermon. Representatives from Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom, UU Berks, The Islamic Center of Reading, Church of the Brethren, Washington Presbyterian, and other faith communities will offer prayers and words of gratitude. The service begins at 7 pm and is followed by a reception. An offering will be taken for a local nonprofit organization.

Opportunity to Join the Church

Have you been reflecting on your relationship with the church and finding yourself ready to make the commitment to be a member? Those who are newer to our church community will have the opportunity to officially join as members on Sunday, November 4. During the worship service that day, there will be a ceremony for new members along with recognition of all lengths of membership.
