Elizabeth Bromley to Serve as Interim DRE

November 6, 2014

Beginning on December 1, Maria Couchman, our Director of Religious Education (DRE), will begin a three-month maternity leave. During her leave, Elizabeth Bromley will serve as Interim DRE in addition to her ongoing duties as Director of Music. Ebee will serve in this capacity from November 16 through March 1. She will be responsible for basic program coordination, preparing volunteers, making resources and lesson plans available to teachers, and Sunday morning oversight with support from the RE Committee, and will offer the Time for All Ages from time to time, as time permits.

UU Sangha on November 10th

UU Sangha is a community of Unitarian Universalists who desire the experience of exploring the teachings (dharma) of Buddhism from all traditions and how they relate to the values and principles of Unitarian Universalism. Our spiritual hour consists of a guided meditation, dharma reading and discussion followed by a brief silent meditation for closing.

Our Time To Serve

For Family Promise, we will bravely host 2 mothers and 3 children over the Thanksgiving holidays. 
There are only 4 dinner dates open, 2 Evening Host times available, and 8 Overnighters needed.
We will also need help setting up on Nov. 16 after church and breaking down on Nov.

Board Splinters - October 2014

-   The Board has approved the transfer of $20,000 from the DeBenneville Fund as a gap measure to pay for the renovations to the sanctuary while awaiting payment of SIP pledges.

-   The Board is looking for energetic and creative volunteers to lead our upcoming innovative pledge drive. Please reach out to any of the Board members if you are interested in volunteering your time and efforts to this extremely important activity!

-   The Board would like to thank Rebecca Hartmann for serving as a member of the Board of Directors. Her time and efforts are greatly appreciated, and her drive, passion, and unique perspective will surely be missed.

-   A GIGANTIC thank you to all congregants for your cooperation, understanding and adaptability during the SIP. Though we are now back in our beautifully renovated sanctuary, our time spent together in the Gerber Room is evidence that it is the coming together of people in common purpose that truly makes a place a “Sacred Space”

Ed and I are new to the UU, but have felt very much at home here since beginning to attend the church in January, and joining in the spring.

The Food Pantry will be not be held on November 6, 2014. We will return the first Thursday in December.  Contributions to the Food Pantry can still be received for future use.
