Beauty: A Light in the Heart

Khalil Gibran says, “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.” This morning we will explore how the light of the heart's beauty can help to create a better world. This service will also celebrate the beauty that our religious education teachers, helpers, and mentors bring to light, and we will take our collection for our congregation's social justice programming.

Traditional Western ideals of beauty tend to emphasize symmetry, orderliness, and harmony. Eastern worldviews center beauty on transience and imperfection, known as wabi sabi in Japanese. This morning we explore how wabi sabi beauty might enlarge our appreciation of our world.

This service in inspired by the word “centering “which is an open UU-compatible word that can cover many forms of meditation or prayer. It is also based on a comment made by Rev. Fees that there must be many centers. The word “center” will be used for those things that truly matter, those things that give meaning to worship and to life.

If you have been thinking of volunteering to be a dinner preparer, evening host or overnight host when we shelter families experiencing homelessness, now is the time to find out more! Come to a Family Promise Volunteer Training session aimed to make you more comfortable with what is expected. If you’re a seasoned veteran volunteer, please come and share your ideas for successful hosting!

We want a copy of your church photos!

Do you have any photos/videos from a Sunday Service or a Church special event? Are they on your computer or smartphone?

The church has received a Free Google G Suite account.  As part of this service, we now have access to a Google Photo account with 30GB of storage for photos and videos. We would like to store all of our shared church photos and videos in this account, so that it easier to find content when needed.

Food Bank Back Up Team Needs You

In order to ensure that our food pantry remains an ongoing service to the community, we need to not only have the current people that are operating it, but also have a back up team (church members) familiar with the operation in cas current leaders are unavailable.
